Wharncliffe Wood, Oughtibridge, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Date: Sunday, 30th December 2018
Start time: 10:45
Grade: Easy / Moderate
Distance: 5.0 miles
Walk description

The walk sets off down Greno Gate into Greno Woods before climbing the path up to Woodhead Road, crossing at the car park before proceeding down into Wharncliffe Woods. We return to Grenoside and the Old Red Lion via the climb through Wheata Woods.

The walk is approximately 5 miles and should take around 3 hours including a stop for lunch. It is rated easy / moderate as most of the trails are well surfaced although there is some climbing of steep hills involved. There is also a section through the woods on a rough narrow path to negotiate. Overall it’s a pleasant mix of woodlands and open countryside with very little road walking.
