The processing of your personal data is carried out by or on behalf of Sheffield Walkers. Sheffield Walkers are a totally voluntary not for profit organisation. Sheffield Walkers respect your privacy and are committed to maintaining the security of your personal information.

Please be assured that we will never sell your personal data, and will only ever share it with third parties where we have your permission and/or where it is necessary for us to fulfil a contract or service obligation.

What data we collect

Sheffield Walkers collect personal data provided by you:
We collect personal information (name, email address and telephone number) when you join Sheffield Walkers.
We collect information about the walks you complete.

Photographs: Some of our members take photographs on our walks which are sometimes used to illustrate our website. Any close up photograph from which any individual can be recognised will not be posted on our website without their permission. Any member wishing to have a photograph removed please contact us by email using our contact form.

How we use and store your information

When Sheffield Walkers collect your data, we will ask for your consent to use it in different ways. We will only use your personal data in ways you have given us permission to do so.

We may also use your data in order to: enter into, or perform, a contract for you e.g. booking a holiday; comply with a legal duty; for our own (or a third party’s) lawful interests, provided your rights don’t override these.

There may be occasions where Sheffield Walkers want to contact you for other reasons than the above, e.g. the cancellation of a walk. This will be done by telephoning or emailing you.

We store the data we keep about you, i.e. your paper Registration Form. This is kept securely by our Secretary. Your email address is also stored electronically on a spreadsheet on our Secretary’s computer, both of which are password protected.

Personal data

To become a member, Sheffield Walkers need your personal information as described above for administrative purposes. Your contact details (name, telephone and email address) will only be shared with the Sheffield Walkers’ Secretary and with Committee Members or Walk Leaders if they need to contact you.

Sheffield Walkers Committee and Walk Leaders abide by the privacy and data-protection policies and your information will be treated confidentially.
All your data is removed and destroyed once you cease being a member, or your membership expires.

At any time you may have your data amended or deleted within one month of making your request to our Secretary.

Sensitive personal data

Sensitive personal health data may also be collected as part of any accident report following an incident on a led walk or other organised event. This information may be shared with our insurance company in line with our legal and insurance obligations.

Young People

No data will be collected from any person under the age of 18 years who may attend a walk or social event.

Contact forms and Cookies

If you submit a message on our site you may opt-in to saving your name and email address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again if you submit another message. These cookies will last for one year.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF, GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
