Walk description

We start from Hade Edge and complete a circuit of the hills and valleys around Holmfirth. The route is undulating, with short steep sections (uphill and downhill), but giving panoramic views of the Holme valley, throughout the walk. The route uses footpaths, forestry tracks, bridleways and short sections on quiet lanes. We walk through the villages of, Holmbridge, Upperthong, Netherthong, Thongsbridge and Wooldale.
Thong is most likely derived from a Viking word meaning – a strip of land.

This is a strenuous 10 mile walk and will take approximately 5 hours with lunch break.
