Walk description
From the car park, we walk across the eastern edge of the Longshaw Estate to White Edge Moor before walking through Hay Wood to the River Derwent. After a short section by the river, we will stop for lunch / refreshments at the Grindleford Station Café for those desperate to begin new year festivities with their iconic chip butty (opening to be confirmed). You may wish to bring your own healthy alternative or select something else from the menu.
From the Café, we start a short, but slow chip butty laden climb by Burbage Brook to reach Lawrence field, talking a circular route past Owler Tor and the icecream van to return to the Longshaw Estate passing the Lodge to return to the car park.
The terrain for this walk is mostly open moorland, with some woodland trails, grass fields and maintained paths.

Parking: National Trust, Longshaw Estate Woodcroft Car Park. A625 Owler Bar Road. Free to National Trust Members otherwise £5 for 4 hours or £7 all day. There is limited on street parking near Fox House Inn on A6187 Hathersage Road.
