Walk description

Leaving on the path across Bole Hills, we pass Clough Fields Riding Stables and cross Stephen Hill. The walk then passes allotments and along wooded paths before crossing Manchester Road adjacent to the old Bell Hag pub. Here the walk takes a climb up the “stairway to heaven” which comprises 67 steep steps leading to the Old Sheffield Road. From here we walk towards Rails Road and take a short break adjacent to the duck pond, where we hopefully see some wildlife. We then cross Rivelin Valley Road and take the path upwards towards Twenty Fields in Stannington. Lunch will be taken at this point. Walking back we drop down to the Rivelin Valley Trail for a short riverside walk before taking an uphill path, followed by a short section of road walking. We then continue uphill passing through woods and allotments, before taking a steep path to St. Anthony Road and a return across the Bole Hills to the start point.
