Higger Tor from Longshaw Estate, Grindleford, Derbyshire
Date: Thursday, 22nd June 2023
Start time: 10:00
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 7.0 miles
Walk description

From Grindleford Station we will take a leisurely walk uphill for just over a mile, through the wooded and pretty Padley Gorge. At the top we cross a road into the Longshaw Estate where the gradient levels out to reach the N.T. café and facilities. We continue through the estate before turning east up some steep steps for a short distance to gain the moorland terrain. Drinks break here to take in the magnificent view. We then cross two busy roads (care needed here) to gain access to Totley Moss and Moor.
The gradient levels out as we criss-cross the route of the Totley Rail Tunnel, before views of Sheffield appear (lunch break).
We proceed downhill to Oldhay Brook to walk along Totley Brook Road, across the railway line, before a gradual ascent up through Poynton Wood and a downhill finish to Dore Station.

This is a linear walk of 7 miles and will take about 4.5 hours to complete, including train journey and lunch etc.
