This walk takes us from Mytham Bridge in Bamford, along well defined undulating paths on both sides of the Hope Valley. On the north side of the valley we start by ascending Saltergate Lane adjacent to Sickleholme Golf Course. At the top of the golf course we go across the course (care needed here! watch for flying golf balls) to reach Thorpe Farm. Continuing to Coggers Lane we have a short walk on a quiet lane before descending to Hathersage. In Hathersage we will take a short break to use the toilets and cafes if required. From here we walk alongside the River Derwent before crossing the bridge which takes us to the south side of Hope Valley. Here we have an ascent to reach our lunch stop which overlooks Hathersage. After lunch we continue to Offerton Hall before making our descent to the banks of the River Derwent. The riverside path takes us to the village of Shatton. We cross the Bamford to Hope road and join the Derwent Valley Heritage Way for a short distance, before turning toward Bamford Mill and back to our start point.
