Hoyland to Chapeltown linear walk

This is a linear walk from Hoyland to Chapeltown and involves catching the number 2 Stagecoach bus towards Barnsley from opposite the Commercial. Those with bus passes don’t forget it, else bring cash or card for the bus fare. The bus is due 10:05 so we need to be at the bus stop by 10:00. Hence the earlier start time for this walk.
After getting off the bus in Hoyland at the Foundry Arms, we take the old wagon track that served the foundry from the coal mine. The walk takes us into Elsecar and the park (toilets if needed here). Skirting the dam we pick up a quiet road past the old (now converted) mill.
Ground conditions permitting we cross a field onto the old coach road where we follow a familiar route back to the Commercial Inn in Chapeltown.
