Distance: 10.0 miles
Walk description

From Winscar Reservoir we climb to Harden and Ellentree Brow then descend by way of Hades Clough to Holme Styes Reservoir. A climb up Fox Clough leads on to Cartworth Moor where we follow tracks along Hill Top Road to Wellhouse. Two short sections of road walking will take us down to Hill House and on to Dobb. We leave the road and join a footpath which takes us across fields with stiles before a steep ascent through woodland to Crow Hill. From here we descend to the picnic area at Ramsden Reservoir; a suitable place for lunch.

After lunch we follow tracks to take us above Riding Wood Reservoir and on to access land, eventually joining a path following the lower reaches of Ramsden Edge. Passing through the now disused quarry near Hoar Clough we approach the lower reaches of Elbow End, with, weather permitting, magnificent views along Ramsden Clough.

Leaving Ramsden Clough behind we turn east and ascend Ruddle Clough, eventually reaching a line of grouse butts near Ruddle Clough Knoll. We follow the grouse butts towards Snailsden Pike End and ascend to Snailsden Edge. Following a line of stakes along Snailsden Edge we reach the old quarry at Wetshaw Edge, where we join a track above Winscar Reservoir that takes us back to Harden and our start point at Winscar Reservoir.
