Date: Saturday, 23rd April 2022
Start time: 10:30
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 7.0 miles
Walk description

From the start point we walk downhill out of the village and after passing Lower Farm we take a track down the hillside passing alongside Little Shacklow Wood to meet a footpath alongside the River Wye. We progress along the path, passing through Great Shacklow Wood and at the end descend to the start of Deep Dale, where further along we we will stop for lunch.
After lunch we leave Deep Dale and take a track, cutting across the valley into Taddington Fields. The track takes us in the direction of Taddington (but not to). After passing Lodley Farm the track splits and we head left onto The Gates then Wheal Lane passing by Wheal Farm. After passing the point where the south end of Deep Dale meets Wheal Lane we take a public footpath over open fields to bring us onto Johnsons Lane just topside of Sheldon. From here it’s a short walk back to the start point.

Please be aware that there are numerous styles and uphill and down hill sections to negotiate on this walk.
