Walk description

Starting from the paddling pool at Rivelin, the walk goes right up the valley to the Old Post Office. Continuing up on to Fox Holes we cross the A57 adjacent to the Rivelin Dam wall, this is where lunch will be taken. The walk ascends through Wyming Brook (care must be taken on this section as the rocks can be slippery) before following the ridgeline of The Craggs, hopefully the weather will be kind and we can enjoy the views along this section. We then drop back down to retrace some of our footprints along the Rivelin Valley and to our start point.

There are two main ascents on the walk. Care needs to be taken in places as the paths have tree roots and stones across them. There is one section that has stepping stones across the river, this can be bypassed if the river is in flood.

This walk is an extended version of the one completed on Thursday 28th September, 2023.
