Walk description

After meeting by the pond in the middle of Hartington, we make our way along Beresford Dale to reach the village of Alstonefield. After a short section of road walking we turn past the Youth Hostel before descending steeply into Wolfscote Dale. Walking up the dale we will take our lunch on Biggin Dale. Continuing up Biggin Dale we turn left to pick up the path that takes us back into Hartington.

This 9 mile walk is on the limestone paths around Hartington. The walk offers panoramic views at the highest points coupled with pleasant riverside walking on the lower parts of the route. There is one stile and several kissing gates. There are some very short sections along Biggin Dale that may be very wet depending on the previous days weather conditions. However all paths are easily passable with minimum effort.
