Date: Sunday, 28th July 2019
Start time: 10:30
Grade: Easy / Moderate
Distance: 6.0 miles
Walk description

A 6 mile walk which is easy / moderate – there are a number of styles and, if water level is okay, some stepping stones across the River Don. It may be boggy in places walking across farmland depending on recent weather. A little after the start there is a steep uphill through woodland up to Green Moor Delph (which we will take at a steady pace!) but after that no challenging uphill. We will walk through the village of Green Moor and follow tracks and footpaths to Black Moor where we will join the Trans-Pennine Trail. We leave the TPT to walk round and under the Romptickle Viaduct and on to Huthwaite Hall, built in 1748 for John Cockshutt, owner of Wortley Iron Works. We continue down to Wortley where we again join the TPT back to our starting point.
