Date: Saturday, 26th August 2023
Start time: 10:30
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 7.5 miles
Walk description

Starting from free car park on Hawkhill Road above the pay and display one, we take the path at the back of the car park past the back of the church yard, through the alpaca’s field and across the stream into Furness Wood. We then do a little road walking past Mompesson’s Well. We skirt the right hand side of Eyam Moor to emerge by The Plough at Hathersage.
From there we take the path along the river to Grindleford, where we’ll stop at the church, where there’s toilets and a cafe for lunch, before returning to the path along the river to Froggatt Bridge. Then the one real climb taking roughly twenty minutes through fields back into Eyam via Riley Woods, passing the Riley Graves through the village to the village square, and the pub. We then cut through the church yard and take the left hand path back to the car park, or you can hang around and see the procession and service for the blessing of the Well’s Dressing.
