Walk description

From Saint Helen’s Church we walk 0.75 mile uphill to Grindleford Station, to catch the 10.29 train to Bamford. Journey takes 7-8 minutes.
From Bamford Station, we walk past the local sports fields to the Quaker buildings before crossing the main Hope Valley road at Shatton. From here we follow the River Derwent riverbank to the Stepping Stones, before turning uphill for half a mile to Offerton Hall. From here there are great views of the Hope Valley where we will lunch.
We then walk downhill through Callow Wood and fields to Leadmill Bridge, before again walking along flat paths by the River Derwent all the way to Grindleford. There are a few stiles and gates to negotiate and watch out for the Common Mergansers in the river.

This is a linear walk of 7 miles and will take about 4.5 hours to complete, including train journey and lunch etc.
