This is a pleasant walk, starting from Beeley village we walk up the hillside to pass Beeley Hilltop Farm then carry on uphill to meet the bridle path from Chatsworth. We then walk east away from Chatsworth to pick up a path over the moors to the left and walk past the east side of Bunkers Hill Woods. Hob Hurst’s house is only a short walk east from the north-east corner of the woods.
Hob Hurst’s house is a prehistoric burial site. The bronze age burial mound was first first excavated by local antiquarian Robert Bateman who had an interest in archaeology and opened the house in 1853 to find human bones and pieces of lead ore.
After visiting the site we retrace our steps back past Bunkers Hill Woods and then on to the bridle path. We cut off and follow a path through Hell Bank Plantation then follow another bridle path towards Falling Farm, a steady walk down the hillside returns us to Beeley.
