Walk description

After a short walk parallel to the river Wye, we travel north by crossing the Monsal Trail and continue alongside Hassop Park on a quiet country track before taking a break near the Catholic church of Saint Paul, originally built for the Eyre family who owned extensive land and properties in Derbyshire. (Across the road you might want to buy a milk shake from the family-run Home Farm. Take some pound coins). A steady climb through Birchill Bank Wood leads on to the A619, then another short climb to the west of Pilsley where we’ll have lunch. From there, we head down Castle Hill and back to Bakewell where you can grab a tart or two.
