From Youlgreave Church, we descend to and cross the River Bradford to join the Limestone Way and climb to Harthill Moor. Passing between the rock outcrop of Robin Hood’s Stride and Hermit’s Cave we descend to and cross the B5056. A steady climb up a stepped path leads to the village of Birchover. After passing through Birchover we follow footpaths around Barn Farm and head towards Stanton Moor where lunch will be at the Bronze Age Nine Ladies Stone Circle.

On our return the route takes us through Stanton in Peak village with approx. 1 mile of country lane before again crossing the B5056. Footpaths take us across fields, eventually descending to Alport. A steady walk following the River Bradford takes us back to Youlgreave.
