Walk description

We set off from Cote Green Lane Car Park, walk up the fields to Wortley village and down The Avenue to Wortley Hall, originally the ancestral home of the Earls of Wharncliffe. We pass through field and woodland to reach Crane Moor Nook, continuing along a narrow track between hedgerows and along a farm track through fields to the village of Thurgoland.

After lunch we walk down the fields to Huthwaite hamlet, entering Stones Wood to reach Well Hill. A short section of road walking takes us to the long driveway to Holly Hall, from where we return through woodland to Cherry Tree Cottages and on to our starting point.

It will take approx. 3.5 hours plus lunch stop. It is a lovely Autumnal walk with extensive views throughout.
