The walk starts from St. Mary’s Church, Worsbrough. From the Church we will follow the path skirting the area of the landscaped old Barrow Colliery where we cross a field to the TPT. Following the TPT to Worsbrough Mill and Dam, those wishing to use the facilities can do so here. We will then circumnavigate the dam picking up the path to Old Rockley Forge and then onto the bridge over the M1. After a short road walk we take the path towards Queen Anne’s Obelisk which unfortunately cannot now be accessed (courtesy of the National Trust). The walk continues over fields and woodland onto the path which will take us through Greensprings Caravan Park where we will pick up the road for a short way passing under the M1. Turning left we then do the only climb on the walk, up a path to the A61 where we cross the road and follow another path back towards the Edmunds Arms.
The Landlord has kindly allowed us to park at the back of his pub (assuming we will patronise his establishment). The early part of the walk may be muddy due to the mess made by off road vehicles. This walk is mostly on good off road paths with short sections that are a little uneven.
This is the original walk we were going to do in January which we had to alter due to areas being unpassable. It is a very similar walk, however this time we will take our break at the flour mill giving us chance to have a look around the mill.
