We leave the Old Moor RSPB car park and cross a footbridge over Knoll Beck before joining the T.P.T passing first Elsecar Greenway and Gypsy Marsh. Keeping on the T.P.T. we pass a lake of the former Park Hill Brickworks before reaching Wombwell Recreation Ground and race track. We cross the road onto Bradbury Bauke Lane, and onto Silkstone Common railway sleeper post turning right into Netherwood Country Park. Following the path parallel to the road we turn left to follow the path alongside the River Dove, through woods until we reach the footbridge over the river. On crossing we enter open grassland, following paths towards Darfield. Turning onto the path adjacent to the school and reach our lunch break.
After lunch we cross a road bridge and turn into woods again following the River Dove. Crossing another footbridge we continue to reach Statio Road, where we turn left and enter Ings Road passing into Wombwell Ings Nature Reserve, and an abundance of bird life.(Ings is a Norse word for wetlands and you will see why). Following Bulling Dyke through a recreation area entering Broomhill Park and then the Old Moor Tavern. From there we follow more paths to re-enter Gypsy Marsh Nature reserve and the Old Moor RSPB car park.
