View of Snailsden Pike End from Ruddle Clough Spring
Shooting Butt No. 10 and Snailsden Pike End from Ruddle Clough Spring, Dunford Bridge, Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Date: Sunday, 6th January 2019
Start time: 10:00
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 9.0 miles
Walk description

The walk will take us around Winscar and Harden Reservoirs and along Snailsden Edge and Snailsden Pike End and then across to Ramsden Clough. We will then cross the open moor to Dead Edge End trig point where we turn and initially walk across the open moor and then tracks down to the side of Winscar Reservoir again, and follow the contour of the reservoir back to our starting point.

There are no steep ascents except for at the start from the car park up the side of the Winscar Dam wall. There is a good deal of open moorland and moorland track walking which may be boggy depending on the weather conditions at the time – strong footwear is therefore recommended. There are fantastic views and photo opportunities throughout this walk, across the reservoirs and along the Holme Valley.
