The walk starts by visiting the lime kilns, and the quaint little harbour in Beadnell. There are fine views of the horse-shoe shaped beach in Beadnell Bay and in the distance, the main focal point throughout the walk, Dunstanburgh Castle. The tides should be right for some beach walking on firm sand to fully appreciate the beauty of this beach and the dunes.
We cross a stream near the bird sanctuary and walk behind the dunes at Newton Links. We then reach another sandy cove at Football Hole, before stopping for lunch in Low Newton–by–the–Sea. We continue through the dunes past some interesting holiday accommodation! to come out on another beautiful beach in Embleton Bay. We continue along the beach before walking behind the towering ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, and along a grassy track to the fishing village of Craster.
Plan is to finish the walk with a drink at the Jolly Fisherman pub.
This is a walk of 8 miles and will take about 4.5 hours with a lunch break.
