Longley Park, Parson Cross Park and Tongue Gutter
This is an easy walk of about 4 miles with the main hill being a steady ascent as we start the walk. The paths are good throughout the walk, being a variety of grass and manmade paths with a little pavement walking. The route starts from the bowling green in Longley Park. From there we have a steady ascent to the top of the park. Crossing Elm Lane, we enter Parson Cross park to see several carved stones by the path. Leaving Parson Cross Park, we cross Deerlands Avenue and turn right into Tongue Gutter which has a variety of bird and insect life along its route. Following manmade paths round we keep on the Tongue Trail until we reach Holgate Avenue. Turning left we start to head back to the cars through Parson Cross park then down Crowder Road and entering Longley Park and back to the cars.
