Walk description

We will leave Upper Denby on the footpath alongside the main road through the village until reaching Pinfold Bridge (railway over bridge) where we then join a footpath which takes us across land to Gunthwaite Hall (farm). We will then follow footpaths and a lane to Scout Dike. We cross the busy A629 road and then follow footpaths around Scout Dike reservoir, pass by Royd Moor reservoir dam and eventually reach Ingbirchworth reservoir. Here we have a little road walking before again following footpaths and lanes to reach Denby Common. Again we cross the busy A629 and then follow footpaths back to our starting point.

The George at Upper Denby is renowned for its ‘home made pies’ with mushy peas (which many of our members have previously experienced). Available to pre-order are Steak Pies and Vegetable Pies – both with a Gluten Free option. The cost of Pie & Peas is £6.50.
Please show on your posting whether or not you wish to pre-order a pie and your preference, and then pay £6.50 into the Sheffield Walkers account.
The closing date for ordering pies is Wednesday 20th November.

A walk which is mainly through rural farm land with a little country lane walking in parts.

Please note: Dog walkers should be aware that there are a number of fields that we pass through where there are herds of grazing cattle. Also, there are many stone-wall type and other stiles on this walk.
