Walk description
We begin the walk along the canal from Marsden train station towards Standedge Tunnel. From here, we pick up a pretty brookside path that in turn leads us onto open moorland. A gradual ascent leads us to a section of the Pennine Way with amazing views from the rocky ridge towards the Welsh mountains (maybe Snowdon!) on a clear day. We will have lunch on this ridge before continuing on a gradual descent towards the A62.
From here, a short climb leads us to the Standedge Trail. We pass tunnel vents as we descend from Pule Hill, then emerge at a viewpoint above Marsden.
A steep descent takes us back to the A62 and then to the Standedge Tunnel and back along the towpath to the start.
