Update: This walk is now cancelled.
Walk description
This walk starts by the Boat Inn at Sprotbrough. Initially we follow the embankment along the curving River Don for about 2 miles. We then cross over the river via a railway bridge (steep steps) to follow the Trans Pennine link trail for more flat walking, before turning east towards the lovely grounds of Cusworth Hall with its lake and shrubbery. We will have lunch here with views towards Doncaster.
After lunch we walk back though fields and under the A1(M) towards Sprotbrough village where we descend down steep steps back to the riverside. It is likely to be muddy in short sections on this leg of the walk. Hopefully, there will be some birdlife (geese/ducks) to view in the meadows beside the Don.
