View of the Eagle Stone
Eagle Stone, Baslow Edge, Baslow, Derbyshire
Date: Saturday, 4th December 2021
Start time: 10:15
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 7.0 miles
Walk description

From the car park we climb slightly uphill to walk below the rocks of Birchen Edge. With the path dropping down to meet and cross the busy A621, the ground is more often-than-not quite boggy. A short stretch of road walking (no pavement), then onto Big Moor and towards White Edge – deer can often be seen wandering the area.

Taking a change in direction we pass through the car park of Curbar Gap, onto the edge using the well-trodden path past Eagle Stone, Jack Flatt and back to cross the A621. We pick our way over another stretch of boggy land to access Gardoms Edge, with its beautiful views, eventually dropping down across farmland to return to the start.
