Stanage Edge, Derbyshire

Start time: 09:30
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 7.5 miles
Walk description

Our walk starts from Soughley Lane, we first take a path through the woods and leading to Redmires Road. Here we have a short section of road walking before joining the Redmires Conduit. We walk for roughly half a mile before turning onto a grassy path across open Moorland, this section includes crossing a narrow stream with stepping stones and eventually leading up onto Stanage Edge. Here we take lunch and enjoy fabulous views. Turning eastward, we follow the edge, before turning off towards Stanage Pole and back down to the dams and our path leading back to the cars. You’ll enjoy fabulous views throughout and if we’re lucky we’ll see curlews, skylarks and kestrels.
There are three stiles to negotiate, one of which is tricky and care needs to be taken.
