Walk description

Starting from Market Lane we descend through Penistone into Water Hall Park. We then ascend through field paths upto the edge of Hoylandswaine with good views of Penistone Viaduct. We then cross the A628 road onto the Penistone Boundary Walk. Descending into Royd Wood, we then pick up and ascend a wide track to bring us to part of the TPT above Oxspring. Descending into Oxspring we will take lunch, before walking a short distance on pavements through Oxspring. Passing over the main tarmacked TPT we climb very gradually to reach Cubley. We walk through Cubley to reach Penistone and our original start point.

This walk consists of field paths (some of these are likely to be muddy and/or wet, but all are easily passable with a little care), unmade tracks and some pavement walking at the start and end of the walk. There are numerous stiles on this walk. There are good 360 views at several points on this walk.

Approximately 4.5 hours including lunch.
