Start time: 10:15
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 6.0 miles
Walk description
The first part of the walk is along the riverside path next to the River Derwent, passing the restored Calver Mill, where some filming was done for the television series Colditz. Crossing the bridge at Froggatt we make our way steadily uphill, crossing fields, with the beautiful views towards the Edges opening up. Still climbing uphill we enter and pass through woodland, exiting onto a quiet lane that takes us past the Riley graves, where some victims of the 1666 plague are buried. Downhill then into Eyam village (where we will probably have lunch), and by more field paths down to Stoney Middleton, and eventually the river path back into Calver.
