We will start from the Black Bull in Monyash and walk for a short distance up Chapel Street before cutting cross country to the village of Flagg. There is a short section on a road here before we continue on paths and fields to reach the top of Deepdale (probable lunch stop).
Continuing on we reach the village of Sheldon. There is a short but pleasant walk on the road through Sheldon before we pick up a footpath that takes us to the Magpie Mine. We will spend a few minutes to have a look around what remains of the mine before we continue across fields and reach a road. We walk for a short distance on the road before cutting cross country back towards Monyash. There is a stile on this section where the ground is quite boggy but passable with care. The last ¾ of a mile is via road which has very little traffic.
There are extensive 360-degree views (weather permitting) throughout the walk. The route is well defined throughout. The route follows road, tracks and field boundaries. There is only one incline worthy of note at the top of Deepdale approx 150ft ascent but it is only short. There are 20+ stiles which makes the walk into a moderate/strenuous.
Approx 4 hours including lunch break.
