Start time: 10:30
Grade: Strenuous
Distance: 9.5 miles
Walk description
From Matlock railway station car park we take a stroll through Matlock town from where the route takes us up to High Tor and the spectacular views over the Derwent Valley and across to the Heights of Abraham. For those with a head for heights there is an opportunity to walk the “giddy path” and rejoin the walk.
After a short stretch of road walking the next section follows a green lane along Bilberry Knoll. There are more good views as the route descends to Cromford, where we will have a lunch / toilet stop. Paths then ascend through woodland towards the attractive village of Bonsall, and continue along the Limestone Way back to Matlock.
This is a 9.5 mile walk.
