Walk description

This walk is from Edale Car Park and goes up onto Kinder Edge ascending via a path below Ringing Roger. This ascent is approximately 1.5 miles and with regular stops it will take 1.5 hours to reach Edale Moor (top of the ascent onto Kinder). We then walk along Kinder Edge where lunch will be taken. At the end of the plateau there is a gradual ascent to cicumnavigate Grindsbrook Knoll, after which we will begin the descent back into Edale. Parts of this descent are steep and the path is uneven in places. The start of the descent is quite rocky (approximately 100 yards) so care will be needed here. The use of walking poles will be of assistance on this section.

This is a strenuous walk over a distance of 6 miles. The total ascent is 1376ft. It is anticipated that the walk will take approximately 6 hours (at a leisurely pace and will include stops to take in the magnificent views and lunch). There are steep as well as more gradual ascents/descents on this walk, which is typical for a walk in this area. The paths are clearly defined throughout. There are sections where the path is shalely underfoot. There are other places where there is either a big step down or up on the path. However all these sections are all easily passable with care.

Should the weather forecast be unsuitable for this walk, it will be cancelled and re-arranged to a different date. Please check for updates.
