Walk description

The walk starts by walking through Barkers Park, before walking down towards Barber Wood and taking in the Kimberworth statues designed by Marcela Livingston. Emerging at Thundercliffe Grange there is then a short distance of approx 300 yards walking up Grange Lane (no pavement) before taking a footpath to Rainstorth. From here there is a short section of road walking via pavement and minor road to reach a footbridge that takes us over the M1 and the path into Thorpe Hesley. On reaching Thorpe Hesley there is a short distance of pavement walking before picking up a footpath that leads us into Scholes village where we will have lunch by the cricket pitch. After lunch we continue up to Keppel’s Column before making our way back to the cars via Bray Plantation.

This walk is on good footpaths throughout, short sections are slightly overgrown where care will be needed to avoid brambles, but these are easily passable. There are 3 stiles on this walk. The inclines on this walk are all gradual and short.
