Walk description

From the start point we ascend onto Rushup Edge, then walk along the ridge passing the ancient burial mount at Lords Seat to reach the Pennine Bridleway where it meets the A623. We then follow the Bridleway all the way to the top of South Head. The return leg takes us over moorland and scree stone paths passing the Edale Cross, down Jacobs Ladder to Barber Booth, then back via the Mam Tor Bridleway.
Options to shorten to route are available if required on the day.

This routes uses lesser walked paths offering some different views of familiar landmarks. If the weather co-operates, you will be treated to some of the finest views in the Peak District; and it is definitely worth the effort!

Meeting point: National Trust Mam Nick Car Park, A625, Castleton, Derbyshire.
Parking: National Trust Mam Nick Car Park P&D, near Castleton. National Trust members free. Free roadside parking on the A623 and on the Old Mam Tor Road. This areas is very busy so early arrival is advised.
