Start time: 10:00
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 6.25 miles
Walk description
This is a walk from Hathersage up towards Stanage Edge covering just over 6 miles. We walk mainly on tracks through fields and woods but with small sections of road walking. If the weather is clear we will get fantastic views of Stanage Edge as we round Bole Hill Wood. On our return leg we pass a number of interesting features including Green Mill Pond, which is what remains of a once thriving lead smelting industry. Also North Lees Hall and St Michael’s Church where Little John’s grave is located. There will most likely be mud in places and we have a small stream to cross via stepping stones. There are also a few stiles to negotiate on the walk.
