Walk description

A walk capturing the magic of the River Dove and exploring the dales and high ground around Hartington.
We start the walk with a steady climb out of Hartington and follow a green lane which takes us into the dramatic dry valley of Biggin Dale, we then follow the River Dove along Wolfcote Dale until we cross a footbridge and then start a short, steep climb up Gipsy Bank, up another green lane to the village of Alstonefield where we’ll stop for lunch. We then leave the village via a short stretch of road walking. Leaving the road we go across fields and then go along a green lane which takes us to our descent into Narrowdale, from which we follow good paths into Berresford Dale besides the River Dove. We enter into woodlands then cross fields using good paths, and back into Hartington and a well earned pint!

Note: Biggin Dale is rocky underfoot at times. The only steep climb of the day is up Gipsy Bank.
