Starting from the free car park on Hawkhill Road above the pay and display one. We walk back down the road to Eyam Hall where we cross the road and climb the hill up through New Close Estate. From there we follow the fairly level track lined by stone built walls for just over a mile towards Housley, where we have to cross the main road, and walk along it for roughly 300 metres. We’ll then work our way through fields and tracks, and follow the edge of Longstone Moor to Wardlow where we’ll then enter and follow Cressbrook Dale back towards Housley.
We then cross the main road again and cut through the farm to the fields beyond, we follow the fields and paths through Silly Dale to emerge on the Village Green complete with duck pond at Foolow, opposite the Bulls Head pub. We then walk a short way down the road before entering the fields which we’ll follow all the way back into Eyam. We emerge at the top of the New Close Estate from where we’ll follow Tideswell Lane back into the village, and back to the car park.
This walk on a fine day offers fantastic views over the fields and landscape of the Peak District surrounding Eyam, Housley and Foolow.
Please note that there are a fair few stiles on this walk.
