We start from the RSPB car park north of Adwick and walk around the edge of the Adwick Washlands nature reserve with abundant wildlife on two large lakes. After 1 mile we reach the small town of Bolton upon Dearne. After walking for another mile through Bolton we reach an unmade track that takes us out into the countryside again. We continue along this track eventually turning toward Old Moor RSPB reserve and the River Dearne where we will have lunch.
After lunch we follow the route of the River Dearne on purpose built paths through the edge of Old Moor reserve into Brookfields Park and Bolton Common and back to the cars at Adwick Washlands. En route we can expect to see a wide variety of wildlife particularly birds. I saw Godwits, Egrets to name just a few on my recce.
The walk is a predominately flat walk on well defined paths, some of these paths are wet and muddy in places but are all easily passable with the appropriate footwear and a little care.
