Walk description

The walk starts by walking up and around Conisbrough Castle, to admire its impressive structure. We descend to walk by a stream before heading up Windgate Hill through a wood, to another impressive structure Conisbrough Viaduct. We progress through the wood and past an old quarry, before following the south bank of the River Don to Sprotborough. Lunch will be here beside the river, canal and the narrow boats.

After lunch we walk through Sprotborough Flash Nature Reserve, before picking up the path on the north side of the River Don for an easy walk back to Conisbrough. Anybody remember the Earth Centre which we pass by? With luck we might see a variety of wildlife on this one!

This walk will take about 3.5 – 4 hours
