From Edale we pick up the start of the Pennine Way turning off after about a mile, to climb up the very steep Broadlee Bank. The path then continues up but not as steep to reach Grindslow Knoll where we will take a drink’s break and admire the 360 degree views. We then continue by the ridge path past Crowden Tower and Jacobs Ladder to our lunch stop at Edale Rocks. After lunch we continue on to Brown Knoll where we turn left and pass a trig point, continuing on we go off the path to get to the Cowburn Tunnel air shafts. After the air shafts we pick up a more defined path which brings us onto Rushup Edge. From here it is a 3 mile walk along the edge to reach our cars.
This walk is a strenuous walk with one very steep climb up Broadlee Bank Tor. The paths consist of moorland paths and some road. There is a section of approximately ¾ mile where we go off the path and cross rough moorland to get to the Cowburn Tunnel air shaft. We start from the old Mam Tor Road then circumnavigate Mam Tor to descend by road and footpaths into Edale.
