This is a tough walk with some narrow and exposed parts on the path. You will need to get your hands, and maybe knees, dirty and clamber over a number of rocks.
The first 1.7 miles will take about 1 hour 15 minutes and there will be a much needed, by me at least, elevenses break when we reach the top.
Having said that, Blackden is a beautiful way up onto Kinder and is little used so we won’t meet hordes of other walkers on the day.
From the Snake Road lay-by we will climb up Blackden Brook and then follow the Kinder Northern edges to Ashop Head. Descending we will follow the Snake Path and cross the footbridge to Rough Bank and then contour along Woodlands Valley back to the lay-by.
Please note the early start time. This is because parking is restricted and the lay-by can get very busy at the weekend.
This is an 11 mile walk which will take about 6 hours and it is strenuous. There is a shorter 9 mile route if we need it.
Please note: Dogs will not be allowed on this walk.
