A circular walk starting from the market town of Helmsley heading west along the Cleveland Way to Rievaulx Abbey and returning via Griff Farm to Helmsley.
Rievaulx Abbey is a ruin dating back originally to 1131 when it was founded by Cistercian Monks and subsequently suppressed by Henry VIII in 1538 and left to decay. The walk takes in open fields and woodlands including excellent views from Rievaulx Terrace and Griff Farm of the Abbey and surrounding countryside. In addition, there will be Pie and Peas waiting for us at the Royal Oak pub at the end of the walk.
