Coach Trip and Walk: Cayton Bay to Filey

This is a 7 mile coastal walk along the most southerly section of the Cleveland Way with about 724 feet of ascent. For a coastal walk the terrain is very moderate with two gradual ascents along the cliff path and two short descents using steps. There are lovely coastal views throughout the walk.
From the Park & Ride car park, we follow footpaths to the old Filey Road, before walking down Osgodby Hill to access the coastal path. Weather permitting this would be a scenic spot for our 11:00am snack, overlooking Cayton Bay. After this short break we gradually ascend Lebberson Cliff for excellent views north towards Scarborough. The path descends around the headland before another gradual ascent to Gristhorpe Cliff and the Blue Dolphin Holiday Park. After this there are 3 miles of easy walking along a wide track to the cliffs overlooking Filey Brigg and the sands of Filey Bay.
The walk concludes with a short walk along the beach and Promenade around 2:30pm, so there should be plenty of time to do your own thing before travelling back!
Anyone wishing to spend the whole day in Filey can remain on the coach.

Pick-up: Chapeltown Library 8:00am for 8:15am start.
Arrival time at Filey Road Park & Ride approximately 10:15am. Toilet facilities are available here before start of the walk. The plan is to have a snack/drinks break around 11:00am overlooking Cayton Bay and then walk straight through to Filey.
Return: 5:00pm. Pick up details to be confirmed on the coach.

Deadline: Please pay in full by Saturday 8th July, (priority is given to members and payment non-refundable). After this date bookings will be opened up to non-members (family and friends etc.), at a cost of £17.00 pp. The trip is limited to 50 people on a first come basis.
